Since 2019, local children and young people aged 5-18 years have been supported to become commissioners and collaborators with professional artists, developing new artwork which explores the three themes 'Identity', 'Place' and 'The Future'. Outcomes from the projects are an astonishing collection of artworks that speak of young people’s aspirations for their future and a re-imagining of their potential as citizens.

Young people have commissioned projects, drawing from our pool of Associate Artists. Throughout the commissions, the artists have ensured that the voices of the young participants are embedded into the design and development of the work, as well in planning for showcasing the projects’ outcomes. Creative projects have been developed with children and young people within local secondary and primary schools as well as with children attending The Turnpike after-school and at weekends.

Keep your eyes peeled for exciting artworks created by local young people as they are shared across Leigh and in digital spaces.
