Currently in its research and consultation phase, this Activation by artist and designer Ibukun Jesusanmi Baldwin (Bukky Baldwin) is being developed in partnership with Everything Human Rights, a local organisation that celebrates diversity, encourages integration, and creates an empowering environment where personal development can flourish through positive participation in projects, activities, and social events. Having begun during lockdown via online platforms, we're now delighted to welcome everybody back to The Turnpike to reconnect safely through a series of co-created workshops.
“I'm a multidisciplinary artist, fashion designer and social practitioner specialising in print, illustration and hand-crafted design. Since graduating with a First-Class Honours Degree in Textile Design I founded the ethical fashion and textile company Bukky Baldwin Ltd out of a growing awareness of the neglected needs of marginalised communities and also the amazing potential within the creative industry to help. I also work within the community creating workshop programmes to train and provide opportunities for marginalised groups. And I totally love it. I am determined to use my company and creative experience as a tool and champion for positive socio-economic change."
