YOUNG CREATIVES

Projects and workshops for secondary-school aged creatives who are interested in developing their skills and knowledge in the arts.

Tune in for a weekly dose of creative inspiration with our Associate Artists. Start with Art introduces the creative career of a different artist each week, and invites you to experiment with new materials and skills through simple prompts. Perfect for any aspiring young artist, pupils looking for inspiration or just a chance to try something new!

TURNPIKE TOTS

Regular sessions for families with children under 5 yrs, in partnership with UpBeat Academy.
Turnpike Tots Online
10am -11am, second Tuesday of the Month throughout lockdown
Join early years artist Tina Thomas (Upbeat Academy) for a virtual version of our usual creative fun, using materials from around the home to explore, learn and play together. Turnpike Tots is for little artists under 5yrs and their grown-ups.

A partnership with Future Everything, Wigan Council and partners across Greater Manchester
this place [of mine] is an opportunity for young people from Greater Manchester to explore the future of high streets and town centres, imagine alternate futures and discover new realms of digital creativity through online collaboration.
The Turnpike is supporting Young Producers from Leigh to engage with the project through workshops and mentoring.

MAKING OF US
October 2020 - March 2022
A partnership with Togther Trust, Wigan Targeted Youth Services and True Colours CIC
Young people from across Greater Manchester aged13yrs+ and experiencing complex disadvantages will be working with artists on our Making of Us programme, exploring the ideas that matter to them and creating collaborative artworks.
The Turnpike is supporting 15 artists over 2 years to test and explore ways of working together with vulnerable young people.
